PORTLAND, Tenn. (WKRN) — February 2026 – The Portland community came together to feed storm crews on Friday.
All linemen, local first responders, public works, road crews, and anyone who’s played a part in responding to this historic ice storm had a seat at the table. It was their time to finally relax and reflect.
“I’ll take a hurricane over this any day of the week. The debris is totally different; you’re not slipping and sliding down the road. You can barely stand up on any road here,” said one member of Sumner County’s Highway Department.
Top of the Ridge, a popular restaurant on Main Street in Portland, provided the food. However, Portland realtor Wally Gilliam was the one who covered the entire bill.
We are grateful to our local community and businesses, who helped ensure that the brave men and women who serve on storm crews were taken care of during the winter storm recovery. We truly live in the best community. Thank you to WKRN2 Local News Nashville and ABC2 for sharing the Good News.
